The “New Babylon” office, conference, hotel and retail destination complex is showing the way in the latest trend in LED Digital Billboards thanks to transparent Glass LED panel tiles. New Babylon is located in the city centre of The Hague, next to The Hague Central Train Station.
The building is 44 floors and almost 150m high. But it is at ground level that the digital screen magic is happening. The front pedestrian atrium entrance is a recessed glass façade that above the door way is a large can not be missed transparent LED screen. Once the fantasy of Hollywood movies, this just finished 16mm Pitch Glass LED installation shows fiction is now fact.
The installation in this state of the art building complex has been under construction for a number of years and its completion with the finished install of the Glass LED screen last month, clearly shows how LED screens can be a feature as non obtrusive digital magic within the building skin thanks to the reality of the Transparent LED Glass Panels.
By using the actual building surface as the LED screen and to that point the glass window or façade, eliminates the traditional standalone column mounted screen having to be placed out and away from the building.
Glass LED tiles are a recent development that allows new ways of creating attention and applying digital content onto building façade, multi level building windows, store and office windows. The Digital LED Glass Panels allow the actual building window to become a digital surface and screen capable of displaying video, animation, social media, photos, creative animations and video. Previously to achieve this projectors had to be used with only limited success during daytime. Today with the Glass LED titles all the limitations are removed and can be easily fitted to existing buildings or new planned construction.

With the Glass LED panels it is now possible to attach LED panels directly to the glass by way of the innovative mounting technique. The options of gluing, hanging, mounting all help to overcome a variety of location issues particular to each project. In addition is can be designed to install onto the vertical window frame.
The panels can butt up edge to edge and thereby creating large seamless edge screens as seen in this video. In the New Babylon project the controllers are aligned with the window glass frame. A certain amount of customisation is possible, for example panel size can be adapted for particular installations, as was the case in the New Babylon at “The Haque”. Control can be via Asynchronous or Synchronous, direct wired, or over wireless or G3 network. As can be seen in this project the Glass LED hardware is virtually invisible but the effect is dramatic. The panels are ideal for attaching to the inside of entire office floor windows, retail shop windows or office partition walls.
The Digital Glass Panels have daytime and night time ability, are applied to any window big or small. They can be easily retro fitted to existing glass façades, windows and internal partitions.
Digital LED Glass is ideal as message screen, effects, billboard, and at the same time not detract the external appearance of glass and yet still display daytime brightness when playing video, graphics, animations and photos. With the correct integration of associated technology it is possible to make the screens interactive, integrated with social media content.
