ICE LED’s partner ipiTek in Istanbul, is managing the rally IT requirements of the event and responsible during the event for the the LED screen requirements. The screen measures 5.256m*2.628m total and weighs 170 kg consisting of three sections. This allows the screen to be easily transported and assembled in the remote Cappadocia region of Turkey. The screen can be promptly erected at the end of each stage prior to the drivers arriving at the end the arduous rally stages.

Cappadocia is a high plateau in Central Turkey at an altitude of 3270 ft / 1000 m. It lies in a triangle formed by the three main towns of Kayseri, Nevsehir and Nigde.

The history of Cappadocia begins 60 million years ago with the eruption of 2 volcanos, covering the area with lava and tufa. In later periods rain and wind eroded the land and created unusual valleys, canyons and cones.

For many centuries Hittites, Assyrian Colonies, Greeks and Romans lived in the region. Cappadocia is also a very important region in early Christian History.

There are over 600 hundred rock-cut churches built by monks and hermits between the 4th and 11th centuries. In some of these, church walls have been decorated with wonderful frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible.

It will be the first time the ICE flexible LED Screen technology has been seen at the GameX Now expo that covers the whole gamut and range of entertainment themes. Computer gaming, comics, technology, gaming hardware, new interactive games, simulation and Cosplay costumes will be a few of the eye candy to bedazzle visitors to the expo. The GameX Digital Game Show is being held at the Lutfi Kirdar Exhibition Center part of The Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Centre (ICEC) and is located in the heart of the city’s business and cultural centre.

The hanging 5.25m x 2.62m P20 LED screen will be displaying live video feeds, general content and a range of videos to show off the flexible LED screen technology. The screen has already had a solid workout at the FIA F3J Aviation competition held in Turkey during July. In late September ipiTex will be using the screen in the isolated distant remote countryside in the Turkish Anatolia Cross Country Rally.

ICE LED plays principal digital display role in Turkey’s major Transanatolia Rally Raid across remote Turkish regions in September 2013

ICE LED Division: We are pleased to announce our modular universal Hang-Roll-Fold Flexible LED screens have been selected for the international Transanatolia Rally Raid motor sports event held throughout the rugged Turkish country side. The event pits man and machine against each other and the rigours of rallying in rugged, breath taking beauty and dangerous regions of Turkey.

Pictured is the ICE flexible 18.25mm Pitch LED screen in an Istanbul workshop being prepared for use in the remote Turkish country side over the last few days. All the calibration was done remotely in real time from our offices in Auckland, New Zealand this week.

Display test pattern confirms sequence and colour from a live internet camera feed during remote set up.

The 7 day rally (31 August – 7 September 2013) is a fast moving mobile event that had a key requirement for any digital display solution. It had to be sufficiently large, easily and quickly packed away each day, good quality viewing, rugged, simple to hang off the side of one of the travelling support trucks. The ICE Hang-Roll-Fold Flexible LED screens fitted the requirements perfectly meeting the budget requirements. The particular custom manufactured model was created in 3 separate sections which meant two people could easily mount the screen one section at a time and then clip the sections together.

The 5.25 x 2.62m fold up soft LED screen will display videos and information during the evening when the participants all arrive in for the night at the base camp each day, to re-group, attend to repairs, enjoy international friendship and share stories, including the big whoppers of exaggeration around the camp fire before retiring for another heady day of rallying in some very historic country side.

Rally raids are probably the most gruelling form of motor sport, tougher even than the 24 Hour race at Le Mans. The demand on vehicles, support equipment and drivers was pressed home during the 2012 3rd stage of the Transanatolia Rally in Turkey when a horrible crash fatally injured 2 competitors.The iconic 18 year old Turkish rider Kemal Merkit and Italian rider Mirco Miotto were parked up on the road looking at their guide maps book to find the right track, when suddenly at a roaring speed the Dutch rider Wouter Vaarkamp arrived crashing into Kemal and Mirco. Meanwhile Mirco suffered some little injuries, Kemal and Wouter unfortunately were fatally injured.

FlexiRoll LED screen delivers very light weight digital images

The ICE FlexiRoll transparent LED screen comes in a range of formats. Starting at 16mm pitch it delivers the ability to display graphics and videos in a large scale format, but without the large weight and bulk often attributed to LED screens.

The flexible nature is a real bonus when it comes to installations due to the substantially less weight in the semi transparent screen.

This photo is of the Flexible LED 20mm pitch that delivers recognisable images even at relatively close up. Ideally the resolved MVD is starting at 20mm pitch when the image becomes non pixelated to the viewer. the areas of the screen that are white is what would be black on a graphic and therefore the SMD LED are not lit.

In the next photo of the FlexiRoll screen, we have zoomed in real close and you can see in this option the Double Strip model where two vertical rows of LED are present and the transparent nature between the strips.

The real advantages can be also considered in the light weight. For a screen that measures just on 10m wide and 2m high the next weight is approx 165kg. An equivalent metal cabinet LED screen could at least weigh in at 600 kg excluding all the infrastructure to keep it up right. because the screen of this size using the ICE FlexiRioll also means the sectional panels are easily carried by one person as they are only 9kg. This carry on benefit means that install costs become a lot less and and easier to implement.

Fold and Roll up your LED screen Just like a Curtain or Mat!

ICE AV’s LED Division is gaining a world wide reputation for delivering innovative products and also solutions for unusual and in recent cases enormously large LED screens. The ICE Flexible LED screen known as the Hang-Roll-Fold is a revolutionary concept in large screen digital format display technology.

In this video we talk about the connectivity and give you a close up view of a 960mm x 1920mm panel.

As the ICE Flexible LED curtain screens are flexible and can be folded and rolled they are easily transported, do not require a truck and simply hung from lighting bars, irrespective of the screen size. The ICE Flexible LED can be manufactured in custom sizes and have the increased flexibility of being able to be joined together if specified at the time of manufacture. The screens can even be walked on rolled, folded whilst being operated.

Towards the end of the video we demonstrate how multiple screens can be connected to make one single larger screen displaying either one single image of multiple images. The Flexible LED screens range from 18.5mm Pitch to 100mm pitch. This video displays the 20mm Pitch and is suited for video from camera feeds, television, DVD and other sources. Sources can either be a standalone computer or althernatively multiple AV sources are displayed via the Screen input switcher processor.

The screens can be used in environments including outdoors with low light levels and of of course in doors. The screens performance enables many new exciting applications where projection is not practical.
